Books I have read and finished in 2005:
Mastery of Love - Don Miguel Ruiz
January - Brilliant - think I'll read the four Agreements in the next two months.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time - Mark Haddon
January - February - brilliant.
Paddy Clarke Hahaha - Roddy Doyle
February - March - timeless and extraordinary. I love Roddy Doyle.
A Rich Full Death - Michael Dibdin
April - excellent as usual, with not one but two magnificent twists at the end.
Sick Puppy - Carl Hiaasen
May - a total fluke that I picked up on special at Pick n Pay. A load of fun and well written.
An Unquiet Mind - Kay Redfield Jamison
November - December - an interesting insight into the mind of a bipolar woman. I learnt so much about the illness, especially about the mixed / dysphoric parts of bipolar disorder, which not everyone gets. I was a little irritated by her need to parade her love affairs though. I find many female writers do this, and it reminded me of Patricia Cornwell / Kay Scarpetta.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - J. K. Rowling
December - I saw the latest film (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) and I knew, coming out of there, that I had to read all of the books. I raced through this book, by my standards, and I enjoyed every single page of it. Suffice to say, I felt suitably miserable once I finished it and went out and bought the next book on New Years Eve.
